Theatre Cleaner (Private Hospital) – Fixed-Term

Patients and nurses in Midrand rely on this private hospital being spotless every shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a private hospital on the Midrand side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged

• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time

• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience

• On-the-job infection control training
• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
