Timber Loader and Stacker – Fixed-Term

Hard, outdoor work on a fire protection association near Alberton, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

• Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
• Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
• Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders

• Passes the medical check for fire crews
• Willing to work in remote areas
• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Valid ID

• Previous plantation or sawmill experience

• Mention fire fighting experience, even as a volunteer. Fire protection crews look for it before winter.
