Job Description

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for a fire protection association in the hills near Polokwane. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The site is in Polokwane; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

What your day looks like

Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times

What you need

Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Willing to work in remote areas
Passes the medical check for fire crews
Valid ID
Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires

Nice if you have

Chainsaw operator certificate
Previous plantation or sawmill experience
