TLB Operator (Civil Works)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the road construction contractor working in and around Kempton Park. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a road construction contractor in Kempton Park. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet

• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
