TLB Operator (Civil Works) – Immediate Start

The road construction contractor in Klerksdorp needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Klerksdorp-based, with most of your time spent at a road construction contractor. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off

• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads

• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders
• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge
• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work

• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Refresher training on new machines
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites

• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
