The beverage bottling plant in East London needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a beverage bottling plant in East London. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change

• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects

• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses
• CNC programming experience

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
