Tractor and Trailer Driver (Sugar Cane)

Planting to harvest, a maize and soya farm near Brits runs on good tractor drivers. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is in Brits (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
• Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
• Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
• Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
• Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
• Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers

• Can read job cards and spray instructions
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Available to live on or near the farm
• Reliable and sober on duty
• At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
• Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety

• Basic mechanical skills
• Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips

• Harvest bonus at season end
• Training on new machinery

• Overtime paid during planting and harvest

• List the machines you can drive and the implements you have used. Farmers want to know if you can plant, spray or harvest on day one.
• Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
