Job Description

If you know tractors, a sugar cane estate near Cape Town CBD has steady work for you. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The site is in Cape Town CBD; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

The work, day to day

Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely

You'll need

Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
Available to live on or near the farm
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Can read job cards and spray instructions
Basic understanding of implements and settings
Reliable and sober on duty

Helpful, not essential

Basic mechanical skills
A pesticide application or spray course
Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips
