Job Description

Big machines, long days in season: a wheat farm near Sasolburg needs a skilled operator. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Sasolburg-based, with most of your time spent at a wheat farm.

The work, day to day

Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season

What you need

Can read job cards and spray instructions
Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety
Basic understanding of implements and settings
Reliable and sober on duty
Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons

Helpful, not essential

A pesticide application or spray course
Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips
