Trainee Accountant (SAICA Training Contract)

An audit and advisory firm in Isando needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is an audit and advisory firm on the Isando side of Gauteng. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads

• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs

• CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
• Consolidation experience across several companies
