Truck Mechanic (Fleet Workshop)

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the agricultural equipment dealer in Ballito. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Ballito (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system

• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits

• Brand-specific heavy vehicle courses
• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles

• Provident fund and funeral cover
• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Overtime available most weeks
• Standby and call-out allowance

• Mention roadside or field experience. Many fleets need mechanics who can work alone at a breakdown.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
