Job Description

You'll train adult learners at a private higher education college in Soweto and get them through their qualification. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

  • Give feedback on course materials so the next intake runs better
  • Assess portfolios of evidence and write clear feedback to learners
  • Run practical demonstrations in the workshop with safety briefings
  • Develop lesson plans, case studies and assessment guides
  • Coach learners who are behind and plan re-assessments
  • Load learner results onto the SETA or QCTO system

Must-haves

  • Good report writing and record keeping
  • Own transport for training at client sites
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the subject field

On offer

  • Holiday breaks between intakes at colleges
  • Day-rate contracts with steady bookings
  • Travel allowance or company car for site training
  • Paid re-registration with your SETA

How to apply for this job

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): sample of a lesson plan or assessment guide you wrote, certified copy of your identity document plus certified copy of your highest qualification.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 6 working days, usually by phone.

How to stand out

  • Put your assessor registration number and the SETA it sits with at the top of your CV.
  • Say which unit standards or occupational qualifications you're registered for; this decides where you can be used.
