Job Description

Good service at a beachfront cocktail bar in Johannesburg CBD starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Johannesburg CBD (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.

You'll need

At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Quick with basic maths and card machines
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

Nice if you have

A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
