Job Description

Guests at this beachfront cocktail bar in Montague Gardens come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Montague Gardens-based, with most of your time spent at a beachfront cocktail bar.

What you'll actually do

Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.

Must-haves

Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience

Extra points for

Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
