Job Description

You'll look after tables at a wine farm restaurant in Soweto, from the first greeting to the final bill. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

  • Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
  • Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
  • Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
  • Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
  • Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
  • Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
  • Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.

You'll need

  • Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
  • You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
  • At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
  • Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

What's in it for you

  • Uniform supplied and laundered
  • Staff meal on every shift
  • You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
