Window Cleaner (Rope Access Assistant)

Tough, messy cleaning at a mining workshop in Epping, paid better than ordinary cleaning. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a mining workshop in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires
• Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
• Shampoo carpets and upholstery with an extraction machine
• Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
• Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading
• Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction

• Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
• Not scared of heights for window or rope crews
• Physically strong for wet, heavy work
• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
• Willing to work nights and weekends when plants shut down
• Respect for chemical safety and PPE

• Working-at-heights or IRATA rope access ticket
• A Code 8 licence to drive the crew bakkie
• Pest control registration under the fumigation rules

• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Night-shift and standby allowances
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators
• Paid training on machines and chemicals

• Say you are available for night and shutdown work. That is when most factory hygiene cleaning happens.
• If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
