Good service at a beachfront cocktail bar in Pietermaritzburg starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.

• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• Staff meal on every shift
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
