Wine Steward (Fine Dining) – Permanent

You'll look after tables at a sports bar and grill in Vereeniging, from the first greeting to the final bill. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Vereeniging, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.

• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Staff meal on every shift

• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
