Workshop Controller (Service Department)

You'll be the link between customers and the workshop at the franchised car dealership in East London. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in East London, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Invoice completed jobs and explain the invoice at collection
• Book in vehicles, walk around with the customer and note existing damage
• Submit warranty claims with photos and technician reports
• Pick, pack and issue parts to technicians against job cards
• Load bookings in the dealer management system
• Order stock and special parts, and follow up on back orders
• Count stock during cycle counts and year-end stocktake

• Accurate when capturing part numbers and prices
• Calm and polite with customers, even when they are upset
• Matric, plus a motor industry background
• At least 2 years as a service advisor, parts interpreter or in a similar counter role
• Computer literate with a dealer management system or parts software
• Good working knowledge of car parts and basic vehicle systems

• Company uniform
• Commission on parts sales or workshop turnover
• Monthly CSI bonus for customer ratings

• For parts jobs, say how quickly you can find a part using the VIN. Some interviews include a quick lookup test.
• If your customer satisfaction scores were good, give the score. It is the number dealers watch most.
