Yellow Machine Mechanic (Earthmoving Plant)

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the earthmoving plant hire company in Bethlehem. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is an earthmoving plant hire company on the Bethlehem side of Free State. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles

• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
• Hydraulic systems training
• Auto electrical skills

• Overtime available most weeks
• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Standby and call-out allowance

• List the truck and engine types you have worked on, including electronic systems. Fleet managers screen for those.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
