Yellow Machine Mechanic (Earthmoving Plant)

The long-distance trucking fleet in Epping needs a trade-tested diesel mechanic for workshop and field work. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Epping (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines

• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks

• Overtime available most weeks
• Standby and call-out allowance
• Provident fund and funeral cover

• Mention roadside or field experience. Many fleets need mechanics who can work alone at a breakdown.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
