Access Control Officer (Grade C)

The gate at an industrial park in Midrand is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Midrand; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers

• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• Firefighting or evacuation training

• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Stable long-term site contracts
