Boom Gate Controller (Industrial Park)

Steady 12-hour shifts at a private school campus in Pretoria East for PSIRA-registered officers. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Pretoria East-based, with most of your time spent at a private school campus.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty

• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends

• First-aid Level 1 certificate
• Firefighting or evacuation training
• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers

• Provident fund contributions
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
