Access Control Officer (Grade C)

You'll control who comes in and out of a distribution warehouse in Soweto, and log every visitor properly. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a distribution warehouse in Soweto. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clean criminal record
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Alert, polite and firm with the public

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
