Job Description

Recons that balance and suppliers who get paid right: that's the job at a wholesale distributor in Cape Town CBD. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a wholesale distributor on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out

You'll need

Matric with Accounting
Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
Understanding of VAT input and output rules
Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work

Helpful, not essential

Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
