Accounts Payable Administrator (Group Finance)

A construction contractor in George needs a bookkeeper who closes the month on time, every month. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in George (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling

• Matric with Accounting
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)

• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
• Experience with inventory costing in a trading business

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Office hours with no weekend work
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams

• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
