Afrikaans First Additional Language Teacher

A faith-based independent school in Stellenbosch needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Meet parents to discuss progress, behaviour and support plans
• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind

• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• At least 1 year of classroom teaching, including teaching practice

• Coaching experience in a major school sport
• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
• Honours degree in your subject or in education management
