Aftercare Supervisor (Primary School)

You'll care for and teach young children at a private pre-primary school in Gqeberha, from nappies to first letters. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a private pre-primary school on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
• Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic

• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
• Paediatric first aid certificate

• Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
• Experience with children with special needs
• Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach

• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
• Add one sentence about an activity you ran that the children loved; it shows you can plan, not just supervise.
