Job Description

Parents at this primary school aftercare programme in East London trust you with their children every morning. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a primary school aftercare programme on the East London side of Eastern Cape.

What you'll actually do

Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
Help aftercare learners with homework and reading

Must-haves

Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
Paediatric first aid certificate
Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners

Extra points for

Experience with children with special needs
Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
