Alarm Monitoring Controller (Night Shift)

You'll watch the screens and radios at a remote video monitoring centre in Vanderbijlpark, and send help the moment something is wrong. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The work is in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians

• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Shift allowance for nights

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
