Job Description

Serious work for a serious officer: armed response across a suburban residential area in Mbombela. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Mbombela, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Secure a scene until SAPS arrives and hand over details
Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren
Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates
Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
Write detailed incident reports on the tablet or in the vehicle logbook
Carry out visible patrols through the sector between call-outs

You'll need

SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)
Calm under pressure and physically fit
Valid Code 8 or Code 10 licence with at least 2 years driving
Clean criminal record and no pending cases
At least 2 years in guarding or response

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of the local streets and sectors
SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
