Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the coal mine engineering workshop near Kempton Park. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Kempton Park-based, with most of your time spent at a coal mine engineering workshop. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Order spares and track them through the engineering store
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles

What you need

Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

Helpful, not essential

Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
