Artisan Assistant (Mining Engineering)

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The coal mine engineering workshop near Mokopane needs you on that team. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a coal mine engineering workshop in Mokopane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task

• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster

• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
