Assembly Line Worker (Furniture Plant)

Good factory hands stay for years, and this soft drink bottling plant in Coega trains from day one. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a soft drink bottling plant in Coega. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Some basic first-aid training

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
