Assistant Site Agent (Roads & Stormwater)

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the general building contractor in Phalaborwa. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Phalaborwa-based, with most of your time spent at a general building contractor. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent

• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites

• Surveying skills with a total station
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
