Associate Attorney (Commercial Litigation)

Take on a real caseload and build your name at a property developer's in-house team in Kempton Park. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a property developer's in-house team on the Kempton Park side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language
• Appear in the magistrate's court, CCMA, Labour Court or High Court as your matters need
• Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions
• Supervise and train candidate attorneys and paralegals
• Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
• Track legislation changes that affect clients' businesses
• Record billable time and hit the monthly target

• At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
• Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
• Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
• Sound judgement under deadline pressure
• Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money
• LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa
