Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care) – Entry Level

A family in Alberton wants someone they can trust with their retired couple's cottage and their children. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a retired couple's cottage in Alberton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Cooking experience with family meals
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Transport money for live-out staff
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
