Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care) – Experienced

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a retired couple's cottage in Bellville. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Bellville-based, with most of your time spent at a retired couple's cottage.

• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
