Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care) – Entry Level

You'll keep a retired couple's cottage in Khayelitsha clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Khayelitsha, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked

• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Good with children and patient

• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Non-smoker

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
