Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care)

Steady household work in a large estate home in Midrand, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a large estate home in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Change bed linen and make beds
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
