Automatic Gearbox Technician

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy independent service workshop in Cape Town CBD. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Location: Cape Town CBD, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Staff discount on parts and services
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Tool allowance or tool insurance

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
