Diesel Technician (Bus Depot)

The agricultural equipment dealer in Bellville needs a trade-tested diesel mechanic for workshop and field work. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at an agricultural equipment dealer in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters

• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits

• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
• Hydraulic systems training
• Auto electrical skills

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Overtime available most weeks
• Standby and call-out allowance
• Provident fund and funeral cover

• List the truck and engine types you have worked on, including electronic systems. Fleet managers screen for those.
• Mention roadside or field experience. Many fleets need mechanics who can work alone at a breakdown.
