This franchised passenger vehicle dealership in Centurion needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a franchised passenger vehicle dealership in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed

• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Your own basic toolbox

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
