Automotive Technician (Diagnostics)

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This fleet maintenance workshop in Mahikeng needs you in a bay. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Mahikeng-based, with most of your time spent at a fleet maintenance workshop. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services

• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Your own basic toolbox
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
