Job Description

Machines set the pace at this industrial bakery in Cape Town CBD; you keep up and catch the faults. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Cape Town CBD (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product

You'll need

Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

Extra points for

Some basic first-aid training
NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
