Bakery Production Hand (Early Shift)

Good factory hands stay for years, and this soft drink bottling plant in Midrand trains from day one. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a soft drink bottling plant in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Some basic first-aid training

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Staff shop with discounted factory products

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
