Job Description

Machines set the pace at this meat processing plant in Randburg; you keep up and catch the faults. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a meat processing plant in Randburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
  • Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe

What you need

  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

Nice if you have

  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory

On offer

  • Staff shop with discounted factory products
  • Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
  • Path to machine operator after six months
  • Company transport on some night shifts

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): ID copy, certified within the last three months, food handler or HACCP certificate if you have one plus CV listing any factory or packing work, even short-term.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 9 working days.

Applying is free. Nobody from How2Apply will ever ask you to pay for anything to get this job.

How to stand out

  • Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
  • Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
