Job Description

Guests at this wine farm restaurant in Newcastle come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a wine farm restaurant on the Newcastle side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

  • Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
  • Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
  • Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
  • Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
  • Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
  • Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
  • Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.

Must-haves

  • You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
  • Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
  • At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
  • Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

What's in it for you

  • Late-shift lift home within a set radius
  • Staff meal on every shift
  • Uniform supplied and laundered

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Newcastle really suit you before you apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): your food handler or barista certificate, if you have one, certified copy of your ID plus contact details for your last restaurant manager.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 10 working days.

Before you hit apply

  • Recruiters ask about a difficult table, so have one real story ready about how you turned it around.
  • Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
