Bar Attendant (Weekend Shift) – Entry Level

You'll be based at a family steakhouse in Paarl. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.

• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• Staff meal on every shift
