BI Developer (SQL Server and SSIS)

Questions come to you at a retail chain analytics team in Stellenbosch, and you answer them with data. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Meet business users to turn their questions into report requirements
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models
• Write SQL to pull, join and clean data from several sources
• Build simple forecasting and segmentation models in Python or R
• Automate weekly reports that used to take hours in Excel
• Present findings to managers in plain language with clear charts

• Careful with sensitive customer data
• Able to explain what the numbers mean, not just show them
• Advanced Excel
• Strong SQL, including joins, window functions and CTEs
• At least 2 years in a data or reporting role (not needed for graduate posts)

• Python with pandas for data wrangling
• Industry knowledge in retail, insurance or credit

• Latest laptop with extra screen
• Annual bonus tied to company performance

• Show a before-and-after, like "replaced a 6-hour manual report with an automatic daily dashboard".
• Build one public portfolio dashboard on a South African open data set if you have no work samples to share.
